Actually, an agreement has been signed between Meerut Municipal Corporation and NTPC regarding this plant. A big pandal has been set up for the Bhoomi Pujan and all the public representatives of the city have been invited.

On this occasion, Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Laxmikant Vajpayee, Lok Sabha MP Arun Govil, Mayor Harikant Ahluwalia, MLC Dharmendra Bhardwaj, BJP MLA Amit Agarwal, Commissioner Meerut Division Selva Kumari J and Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Gangwar held a meeting and performed the Bhoomi Pujan.

The plant will be built at a cost of Rs 300 crore
. Waste disposal is the biggest problem in Meerut. There are already mountains of garbage here and on the other hand the garbage generated every day is causing problems. Meerut Municipal Corporation has land in Gaonwadi and now NTPC will set up a waste disposal plant here at a cost of Rs 300 crore.

The work of this plant will be completed in about two years and then the disposal of fresh waste will start every day. However, it is expected that the plant will start in 18 months and the disposal of fresh waste will begin. Charcoal and coal bricks will be made from this garbage.

1200 metric tons of garbage is generated in Meerut.
Meerut Municipal Corporation has 90 wards and 1200 metric tons of garbage is generated from here every day. This plant will dispose of garbage at the rate of 900 TPD i.e. ton per day and will make coal boxes, which will be used in the NTPC plant.

However, Meerut Municipal Corporation will have to spend Rs 20 crore on setting up a pre-processing plant. NTPC GM Amit Kulshreshtha said that after Banaras, Gorakhpur and Noida in UP, this will be the fourth NTPC plant in Meerut. A plant as big as the one in Noida will be built here.

Who said what?
Common people are very excited about the garbage disposal plant in Meerut. Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Laxmikant Vajpayee said that Meerut will be free from garbage. This is an ambitious plan of the PM and CM. He said that this plant has reached Meerut via the land of Baba Vishwanath and Baba Gorakhnath.

Lok Sabha MP Arun Govil said that Meerut will develop a lot due to this. A lot of hard work was done to bring the plant here. The mayor talked to me about this, he said that if you sit in a clean place, then good ideas come. This is a positive sign for us.

MLA Amit Agarwal says that now black gold will be made from garbage and the city will get rid of garbage. Just like Mata Rani killed demons, garbage is going to be killed in the same way.

Mayor expressed gratitude to PM-CM
Meerut Mayor Harikant Ahluwalia said that a lot of efforts were made for the plant and we got this plant due to the policies of PM Modi and CM Yogi. We are soon going to dispose of the mountains of garbage as well. I talked to all the public representatives for this plant and due to the unity of all of us, we got the NTPC plant.

Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Gangwar said that the entire Municipal Corporation is ready to make the construction of the garbage plant a success and we will move forward towards starting it soon. We will try our best to solve Meerut's biggest problem of garbage in whatever way possible.
