Imphal. A major incident took place on Saturday when a fire broke out near the official bungalow of Chief Minister N Biren Singh amid the violence that has been going on in Manipur since last year. The fire broke out in a building near the secretariat complex located near the CM's residence. Police said that three fire engines were deployed to douse the fire, which was brought under control within an hour.
Officials said that after the fire incident, security of the Chief Minister's bungalow has been tightened. He said that there was no damage in this incident. Giving information, the official said that the cause of the fire has not been ascertained yet.
The building belongs to the family of a former IAS officer
The building belongs to the family of late IAS officer T Kipgen, former chief secretary of Goa. Officials said the house had been lying vacant since violence broke out in Manipur last year.
