The Central government on Tuesday moved the Supreme Court and accused the Bengal government of non-cooperation in providing assistance to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) which is responsible for the security of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.

Demand to give instructions to Bengal government officials

Terming this non-cooperation of the Trinamool Congress government as an example of systemic weakness, the Union Home Ministry has demanded that instructions be given to the officials of the Bengal government to extend full cooperation to CISF.

Supreme Court had issued instructions

Let us tell you that on August 20, the Supreme Court had termed the rape and murder of the doctor in the hospital as horrific and issued several instructions, which included the establishment of a 10-member National Task Force (NTF) to formulate protocols to ensure the safety of doctors and other health care professionals.

Apart from this, the apex court had taken serious cognizance of the allegations of mob violence in the hospital and the Kolkata Police running away from there. The Supreme Court had ordered the deployment of CISF personnel in the hospital so that the striking doctors could return to work. In the application filed in the case, the Home Ministry has said that the petition is related to the deployment of CISF personnel in RG Kar Medical College, which also includes hostels where resident doctors are living, to ensure their safety.
