Many people wonder why Mahashivratri and Masik Shivratri fall on the same Chaturdashi Tithi each month but are considered distinct from one another. While both are dedicated to Lord Shiva, their significance and observances differ.

What is Mahashivratri?

Annual Celebration – Mahashivratri is celebrated once a year, typically in February or March during the Phalgun month.
Spiritual Significance – It marks the divine union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati and is considered the most powerful night for spiritual awakening and salvation.

What is Masik Shivratri?

Monthly Observance – Masik Shivratri occurs every month on the Chaturdashi Tithi of Krishna Paksha (the 14th day of the waning moon).
Spiritual Significance – It is a mini Shivratri, observed for seeking blessings, good health, success, and wish fulfillment.
