Om Prakash Tiwari, Mumbai. Within a few weeks of facing a huge setback in the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP alliance in Maharashtra has given indications of its future strategy by defeating the opposition parties' Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in the Legislative Council elections (Maharashtra MLC Election) . In the elections for 11 seats of the Legislative Council held on Friday, the BJP-led Mahayuti (alliance) was successful in getting all its nine candidates elected, while only two out of three candidates of MVA could win.

All the parties involved in the Mahayuti in Maharashtra are members of the NDA. After the Lok Sabha elections, all eyes were on the Legislative Council elections. Because in these elections, the unity and strategic skills of both the ruling party and the opposition were to be tested, but the alliance of opposition parties proved unsuccessful on both these fronts. In these elections, all the candidates needed at least 23-23 votes to win.

Who got how many votes?

BJP was successful in getting 26 votes each for all its candidates. Both the candidates of its ally NCP (Ajit) also won by getting 23 and 24 votes respectively. Both the candidates of Shiv Sena (Shinde) also got 24 and 25 votes respectively. On the other hand, among the parties of Mahavikas Aghadi, Congress candidate Dr. Pragya Satav got the highest number of 25 votes.

Milind Narvekar of Shiv Sena (UBT) could get only 22 votes in the first round, one less than the minimum votes required to win. He could reach the Legislative Council by getting three additional votes of Pragya Satav's second choice in the second round. Whereas Narvekar is the personal secretary of Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray and is considered Uddhav's right hand.

NDA made a dent in the opposition

The third candidate of Mahavikas Aghadi, NCP (SP) supported Jayant Patil, lost by getting 12 votes. After the victory, BJP leader Sudhir Mungantiwar claimed that the Congress votes have split. This seems to be true, because NCP (Ajit) had a total of 42 MLAs, but both its candidates got a total of 47 votes.

Similarly, BJP had only 103 MLAs, but in the first round of counting itself, it was successful in getting 118 votes for its five candidates. Thus, in the first round itself, its four candidates were successful in winning by getting 26 votes each.

Opposition's wickets will keep falling like this: CM Shinde

Its fifth candidate Sadabhau Khot, who could only get 14 votes in the first round, also reached 26 votes after the second round of counting. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is once again being considered the strategist of this victory. Speaking in the assembly after this victory, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde took a dig at the opposition and said that let's see what happens in the future. The wickets of the opposition will keep falling like this.

Ajit Pawar told the strategy for victory

In the recent Lok Sabha elections, Ajit Pawar had suffered the worst defeat. There were speculations that many of his MLAs would soon join Sharad Pawar's party NCP (NCP), but today after the victory of both his candidates in the Legislative Council elections, Ajit Pawar said that to formulate the strategy for this election, we held three meetings with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and decided how to get our MLAs to vote. We decided that we will not try to pull each other's MLAs towards us. It is because of this strategy that all the nine candidates of the Mahayuti were successful in winning.

MLAs from other parties have also expressed confidence: Fadnavis

Ajit Pawar claimed that by displaying the same strategic skills in the assembly elections, the Mahayuti will again form the government. Devendra Fadnavis said that the series of victories has now begun under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This will continue in the upcoming assembly elections as well. He said that when we fielded nine candidates of the Mahayuti, some people were saying that one of them will lose, but all nine of our candidates won. We not only got our votes, but MLAs of other parties also expressed their trust in us.
