The author of Mahabharat Granth (Mahabharata Katha) is Ved Vyas, who himself has been a character in it. In this Granth, we find the description of the war between the Kauravas and the Pandavas, which was named Mahabharat. Today we are going to tell you a story described in Mahabharat, according to which a child was born from the womb of not one but two mothers. Let's know this amazing story.
The king did not have any children
Today we are talking about Jarasandha, whose description is found in the Mahabharata. The story of his birth is very interesting, according to which, King Brihadrath of Magadha had two wives. But the king had no children, due to which he was very upset.
Then he goes to the ashram of sage Chandkaushik and tells him his problem. Then the sage gives him a fruit and says that feed this fruit to the queen who is most dear to you, this will give you a child.
born like this
But the king loved both his queens, so he cut the apple into two pieces and gave one piece to each queen. After eating the apple, both the queens became pregnant and after some time when they gave birth to a child, they were surprised. Half of the child was born from each of their wombs. Seeing this, both the queens got very scared and threw the child in the forest.
This is how the name came about
During this time a demoness named Jara was passing through that forest and she saw the pieces of the child and joined the two pieces of the child together with her magic. Because the demoness named Jara joined the two parts of the child, this child was named Jarasandh.
How was Jarasandha defeated?
Later, there was a wrestling match between Jarasandha and Bhima, which continued for a long time. But it was very difficult to defeat Jarasandha, because every time Bhima cut his body into pieces, he would join back together and become alive.
Then Lord Krishna signals Bhima and breaks a straw into two halves and throws it in two opposite directions. Bhima understands his gesture and similarly breaks Jarasandha into two parts and throws them in different directions. This is how Jarasandha was killed.
