The festival of Kaal Bhairav Jayanti is very special. It is also known as Bhairav Ashtami. On this day, Lord Shiva's fierce form Kaal Bhairav ji was incarnated. According to the Hindu calendar, this auspicious festival is celebrated on the Ashtami date of Krishna Paksha in the month of Margashirsha. This year this festival will be celebrated on 22 November 2024. It is said that by doing special worship of Lord Shiva on this occasion (Kaal Bhairav Jayanti 2024), happiness comes in the life of the devotee and the blessings of Lord Shankar are also obtained.

Kaal Bhairav was incarnated due to the anger of Lord Shiva (Lord Shiva's Fierce Avatar)

Lord Shiva has taken many forms for the welfare of the creation, whose glory is immense. Kaal Bhairav is considered to be the most fierce form of Lord Shiva. He is also called Dandadhipati and Dandapani. According to mythology (Kaal Bhairav origin story), Lord Shiva took the form of Kaal Bhairav to punish Brahma Ji. It is believed that Brahma Dev had become arrogant that he was the creator of the universe and due to this pride, he started insulting all the gods and goddesses. This angered Mahadev and then he took the form of Kaal Bhairav.

I had to go to Kashi for repentance

Before this incident, Brahma Ji had five heads. To destroy his ego, Kaal Bhairav Ji cut off one of the five heads of Brahma Dev with his trident. To repent for this incident, Lord Shiva had to wander as a beggar till he reached Kashi and it was here that Kaal Bhairav Ji got relief from the burden of his sins.

The aim was to eradicate the evils

However, Kaal Bhairav was incarnated to eliminate ego, pride and other evils that lead to the downfall of everyone. Thus, Brahma also realized his mistake and apologized for it.
