Ghaziabad News: Bulldozers are being used on 161 acres of land belonging to the Defence Department in Ghaziabad's Vijaynagar police station area. This land was occupied for more than 40 years. Thousands of slums were built here. They were given notices several times. Public announcements were made for several days now. On Monday, this land is being vacated in the presence of the Defence Department, Police and PAC.
VK Gupta, SDO of Defence Estate Office Meerut Division, said that the army has 161.5116 acres of land, which was authorized for the army's training rifle range. The land was lying vacant for a long time. Slowly slums were settled on it. Some slums were temporary and some were permanent. Notices were also given for them. The state officer had given orders to demolish the slums. Which was pasted here and announcements were being made here continuously for four-five days. Everyone should remove the huts or else they will be removed. Those who removed them themselves are fine, for those who did not remove them, we have brought JCB. We are taking care that there is no loss of life and money, this land is worth several hundred billion rupees.
Police assistance was taken to remove the encroachment.
ACP Kotwali Ritesh Tripathi said that police is deployed here to maintain law and order. The Defense Ministry had requested us for police assistance. Along with this, police assistance should be given to remove the encroachment. In view of this, the force is present here. In which there is a platoon of PSC along with the civil police of the police station. Let us tell you that this land was authorized to the army for rifle training range, which was occupied for 40 years.
