The Indian stock market has saluted the victory of Republican candidate Donald Trump in the US presidential election. Nifty and Sensex managed to close with strong gains in the third trading session of the week. Buying was seen in all sectors of BSE. Midcap and smallcap stocks also saw a rise. The highest rise was seen in IT stocks. The Nifty IT index saw the biggest intraday rise in the last 4 months.
Apart from this, there was a jump in realty, oil & gas and PSE stocks. Energy, metal and auto index also closed with gains.
After a 1% fall in Brent crude oil, oil marketing companies and paints stocks saw a good rise. With today's rise, the total market capitalization of all the stocks listed on BSE has seen an increase of ₹ 8 lakh crore today. The stock closed 2% lower today after weak results in the second quarter.
