Many people have the habit of drinking bed tea or bed coffee as soon as they wake up in the morning. Many people do not start their day without it. This is because the caffeine present in it blocks the action of adenosine, which makes sleep disappear and activity increases. Adenosine increases lethargy and naps. As soon as it is blocked, the mood becomes fresh and the eyes also open. Also, caffeine helps in releasing adrenalin from the adrenal gland, which makes the brain even more alert.

Some people drink pre-workout tea or coffee to be active so that they can workout easily. Its consumption before a workout is fine, but caffeine can prove to be harmful after exercise or workout. It can be responsible for increasing BP and heart rate. Let's know how caffeine can increase your BP after exercise-

Why should you not drink coffee after exercise?

  • To some extent, the link between caffeine and blood pressure or heart attack can be seen through genetics. If your body metabolizes caffeine quickly, then it will not have any effect on blood pressure. But if your body is metabolizing caffeine slowly, then the risk of increasing blood pressure increases.
  •
  • Caffeine activates the secretion of the stress hormone cortisol. It also helps in the secretion of adrenalin. Coffee contains a vasoconstrictor, which narrows the sides of the blood vessels.
  •
  • After exercising, the body is under physical stress, when the heart beat remains increased. Blood pressure increases due to fast heart beat. It has been found in a research that blood pressure remains slightly increased for 3 hours after drinking coffee. In such a situation, drinking coffee after exercising definitely increases the possibility of increasing blood pressure. Because the body needs rest after a workout, so in such a situation, drinking an energizing caffeinated drink can increase the heart rate along with BP. This can prove to be dangerous for health.
  •
  • Therefore, instead of consuming caffeine after a workout, drink coffee before your workout as much as possible.
