New Delhi. It is necessary for everyone to file their Income Tax Return (ITR), but this process is not complete until you verify it. In such a situation, the Income Tax Department has come up with a way to solve this problem of yours.
Let us tell you that these methods are convenient and very easy. These methods include both online and offline verification facilities, which are available in India. Let us know about them.
Aadhaar OTP Verification
- This is the simplest option for verification. You will need your PAN, acknowledgement number and Aadhaar number linked to the registered mobile phone.
- The e-filing portal will send a permanent OTP to your phone for verification.
- Always keep your Aadhaar OTP confidential and also update your mobile number linked with Aadhaar if required.
Electronic Verification Code (EVC)
- This process requires registering as a taxpayer on the e-filing portal and having a pre-validated bank or demat account linked to it.
- You can easily generate EVC by logging into the portal, selecting “Generate EVC” in Services and selecting your preferred account and verifying your PAN details.
- EVC will be sent to your registered mobile number and email.
- Use EVC within 72 hours to verify your ITR on the e-filing portal.
Offline Verification
- Download the pre-filled ITRV form after filing your ITR online.
- Now print it, sign it in blue ink (making sure the barcode and number remain visible).
- Mail it to the specified Income Tax Department address in Bengaluru within 120 days of filing it.
- This process is a bit slow and discouraging because of the delay in updates.
