The cultural roots of the people of India are so strong that they invite people from across the seven seas to their homes for Chhath. Chhath, a great festival of folk faith, is a festival of preserving and enhancing cultural values along with natural values. Mamta Gupta from Australia comes to her maternal home near Peeli Kothi in Jehanabad city every year on the occasion of Chhath.
Husband works as an engineer in Australia
In fact, Mamta Gupta, daughter of late Dwarka Prasad, who lived near the city's Peeli Kothi, was married to Vinod Gupta in Bardhaman, West Bengal. Shortly after the marriage, Vinod Gupta started working as an engineer in Australia. After that the whole family moved there and started living there. More than two decades have passed while living in Australia. Dwarka Prasad is no longer in this world, but his other family members are in Jehanabad. This time Mamta's sister-in-law Juhi Gupta and maternal uncle Tribhuvan Prasad, who is a doctor in PMCH, are celebrating Chhath.
Here Mamta's husband Vinod Gupta and both daughters Shruti and Srishti are working as engineers in Australia. Mamta's entire home has been in Perth, Australia for a long time. She does not get time to come to her homeland on other occasions, but when it comes to the great festival of folk faith, Chhath, she is forced to come to her mother's home by spending lakhs.
Mamta Gupta says that when we got to know that Bhabhi is celebrating Chhath, we started preparing to come to participate in this festival. Although my husband and daughter could not come due to their busy schedule, I myself have come. After this festival is over, I will go back to Australia. She says that despite living abroad, the great festival Chhath is keeping us connected to our culture. There is always faith and joy regarding Chhath.
She reached there after travelling for 18 hours by plane
Money has no value in front of public faith. The faith of Chhath draws people from across the seven seas. In fact, lakhs of rupees are spent to come from Australia to participate in Chhath. Mamta Gupta says that money will keep coming and going, but the blessings of Lord Bhaskar that one gets by participating in Chhath are priceless in themselves. Traveling for 18 hours by plane to participate in this ritual shows the importance of this festival. Mamta says that Chhath Puja has now become global, but worshipping in one's own home has its own importance.
