what is power scheme

Shakti Scheme is one of the five guarantees of Congress which was promised to be implemented after coming to power. As soon as it came to power, the Congress government launched this scheme on 11 June 2023. Under this, women of the state are given the facility of free travel in government buses of the state government. This scheme was implemented on the lines of the Aam Aadmi Party government of Delhi. Congress claims that the aim of Shakti Scheme is to strengthen women socially and economically.

Rs 7,507.35 crore was spent on this scheme

Till October 18, 2024, the state government has spent Rs 7,507.35 crore on this scheme. 311.07 crore women have traveled for free under this scheme. On Wednesday, the state's Deputy CM DK Shivakumar had said that some women are talking about paying the fare. Therefore, this scheme can be reconsidered. After this statement, questions started being raised on the Shakti scheme. It is believed that due to this scheme, the government's budget is being affected heavily.

Mallikarjun Kharge slammed DK Shivakumar

Let us tell you that on Thursday, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge pulled up Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar for his statement. Taking a jibe, Kharge said that you have given some guarantees. After seeing them, I too had said in Maharashtra that there are five guarantees in Karnataka. Now you (Shivakumar) said that you will leave one guarantee. On this, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar sitting next to him laughed and disagreed with Kharge's statement.

Siddaramaiah said that the Deputy Chief Minister has only said that the government will review it. Kharge said that whatever Shivkumar has said has given an opportunity to the BJP. After Kharge's statement, BJP and JDS have started cornering the Congress.
