A mother and her newborn child died due to an unsuccessful operation performed by a quack doctor at Maa Emergency Nursing Home located in Karakat Godari of Rohtas district on Saturday. Angry with this incident, the family members created a ruckus and lodged an FIR against the doctor. The health department took cognizance of this incident and raided the place on the morning of October 15 under the leadership of civil surgeon Dr. Maniraj Ranjan and sealed the Maa Emergency Nursing Home. 

According to the information, Mamta Devi, daughter-in-law of Dashrath Paswan and wife of Jitendra Kumar, resident of Srinagar village of Baghela police station area, was brought to Maa Emergency Nursing Home in Godari on October 11 for delivery. There, a quack doctor tried to perform the operation after watching YouTube, due to which the mother and child died on October 12. Taking cognizance of this incident, the health department first sealed the Maa Emergency Nursing Home, where this accident took place.

After this, the team checked the registration of another women's nursing home near CHC Godari and sealed it too due to lack of some documents. During the raid, many illegal nursing home and ultrasound operators fled by pulling down the shutters. About ten to fifteen nursing homes and ultrasound centers are operating openly in Godari Nagar, but the health department takes action only occasionally. When there is a complaint, some action is taken, but after a few days these fake nursing homes open again.

The civil surgeon said that on receiving the news of the death of the mother and child, immediate action was taken and two fake nursing homes were sealed. Illegally operated nursing homes and ultrasound centres will be identified and notices will be issued. If a satisfactory answer is not received, a second raid will be conducted and legal action will be taken.
