Odisha may soon become a big name in India's gold mining industry. Gold deposits have been found in several districts of the state, making the area increasingly ready for mining. Odisha Mining Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena has confirmed this in the Assembly. He said that the discovery of gold will strengthen the state's economy and will also create new employment opportunities.  

Gold reserves found in these districts-

Large deposits of gold have been found in Sundargarh, Nabarangpur, Angul and Koraput districts. Apart from this, indications of the presence of gold have also been found in Malkangiri, Sambalpur and Boudh districts. These discoveries are giving Odisha an opportunity to join the richest mineral areas of India. Several places of gold have also been identified in Mayurbhanj district, including Jashipur, Suriaguda, Ruansi, Idelkucha, Maredihi, Sulepat and Badampahar. Earlier, gold was discovered during copper exploration in the Adasa-Rampalli area of ​​​​Deogarh district.  

Gold exploration is also underway in Gopur-Gazipur, Mankadchuan, Salekana and Dimirimunda areas of Keonjhar district.

Auction going to be held for gold mining for the first time

The Odisha government plans to auction its first gold mining block in Deogarh district, giving a major boost to the state's mining sector. The Geological Survey of India (GSI) and Odisha Mining Corporation are examining these new locations to determine how feasible it is to extract gold. Technical committees are reviewing the final reports before starting commercial mining. Initial surveys are being conducted in Jashipur, Suriyaguda and Badampahar in Mayurbhanj. Copper-gold exploration is also underway in the Jaladhihi area of ​​Deogarh and results are expected soon. The auction process will begin after assessing the reserves present in the Gopur-Gazipur area of ​​Keonjhar.
