Mumbai. In cinema, a right film creates opportunities for an artist that perhaps 10 films together cannot create. For Parineeti Chopra, that film was 'Amar Singh Chamkila'. Her acting in the film was appreciated and now she is getting calls from those directors who earlier used to stay away. Excerpts from Priyanka Singh's conversation with Parineeti on this change...

People said this line for me, so I wrote it. The confidence was always there. It was never lost. An artist cannot tell himself that I have come back. People assure me of this. I have respected that trust by bowing my head.

What will be new in Parineeti 2.0 version?

This is an interesting title. It brings a smile on the face. I am in a public profession. This title has also been given by the audience. It means that they had seen my 1.0 version earlier, now they are seeing 2.0. Obviously they must have seen some changes in me. My 2.0 is to do good films, to live up to the expectations of the audience. When I do not give a strong performance, I get scolded by the audience. I have an amazing relationship with the audience. They have told me clearly what they want from me in films. I will always keep that in mind while choosing films. The second will be my music, in which I will do stage shows, music albums, everything. Rest I will spend time with my family.

You had gained 16 kgs of weight for the film 'Amar Singh Chamkila'. Will you be ready for such dedication in future as well?

Yes, being an actor I am ready to make bigger sacrifices than this. I am a very committed actress. I am that student who needs the most praise from the teacher.

You said that you will represent those who are not able to create work opportunities for themselves by going to Bollywood lunches and dinners...

Yes, because it happens. The biggest change that happened to me after this film is that I have received calls from filmmakers. They said that we have never seen you like we saw you in this film. Now they are sending me such scripts, offering me such roles, which are very different from the opportunities I got earlier. Those directors are calling who never thought that they could work with me. Now the atmosphere is different. They can also see that I have done a successful film.

You said your PR game is not good at all. Have you tried to fix it?

My strength is that I am a director's actor. I completely surrender myself on the set. I don't know anything about the outside world. I work hard on my character. I think that as an actor, this aspect of you should be strong. A film like 'Amar Singh Chamkila' proves that whether your other games are good or not, but if you are doing good work, work will come to you. After this film, everyone has called and said that now no one can ignore you. My work will speak for me.
