Chennai: There is news of a major railway accident from Tiruvallur in Tamil Nadu, where the Bagmati Superfast Express going from Mysore to Darbhanga collided with a stationary train. Due to the accident, 12 coaches of the train derailed. 19 people are reported to be injured in the accident.
Tiruvallur police told the agency that a passenger train travelling from Mysore to Perambur via Darbhanga collided with a stationary goods train at Kavarappettai railway station near Tiruvallur. Railway officials have reached the accident site.
Udhayanidhi Stalin met the injured passengers
Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin met the passengers injured in the train accident, who are being treated at the Accident and Emergency Department of the Government Stanley Medical College Hospital in Chennai. At the same time, Dilip Kumar, Executive Director of Information and Publicity (ED / IP) of the Railway Board, said that we received information about the train accident. After that, relief and rescue work was started rapidly. All the passengers have been evacuated from the entire train. There is no report of any passenger being injured. No passenger has suffered serious injuries. Special arrangements are being made by the railways to take all the passengers to their destination.

According to ANI, Dilip Kumar, Executive Director, Information and Publicity, Railway Board, said, 'Information has been received about the accident of 12578 Bagmati Express. So far, the relief and rescue team from the railways has reached the accident site and the work of evacuating passengers from all the coaches is going on. More than 90% of the passengers have been evacuated.'
The official said, 'We have not received any information about any casualties or serious injuries so far. Both relief teams and medical teams are present at the accident site. GM Sadan Railway and DRM Sadan Chennai Division have left for the accident site. Necessary arrangements are being made by the Railways from Chennai station to take the remaining passengers to their destination.'
