Raigad News Today: Five people died and 27 were injured in a road accident in Raigad, Maharashtra on Friday (20 December). All the people were going to attend a wedding ceremony. A private bus full of wedding guests overturned at a dangerous turn at Tamhini Ghat in Raigad. On receiving information about the accident, the Mangaon police team reached the spot with rescue team and ambulance.
An official said that the bus full of wedding guests was going from Lohgaon to Birwadi in Mahad. During this time the bus driver lost control of the vehicle, due to which the bus overturned and the accident occurred. The dead include three women and two men. 27 injured were taken to Mangaon Rural Hospital for treatment.
27 guests were rescued
The deceased have been identified as Sangeeta Jadhav, Gaurav Darade, Shilpa Pawar and Vandana Jadhav. While the identity of one person is being ascertained. Senior Inspector Nivrutti Borade of Mangaon Police Station said that 27 injured guests trapped inside the overturned bus were rescued and taken to hospital. Police are investigating the accident.
NCP leader Supriya Sule expressed grief
NCP (Sharad Pawar) faction MP Supriya Sule has expressed grief over the accident. Supriya Sule said in a post on social media platform X, "It is very sad and unfortunate news that a bus carrying baraatis overturned at Tamhini Ghat. Some people have died in the accident. Some people have been injured in the accident and are undergoing treatment. I am in touch with the district administration regarding the incident and immediate help and rescue work has been started. I pray to God that the injured people return home safely. Heartfelt tribute to the dead.
