News Topical, Digital Desk : The Election Commission on Tuesday released the draft voter list after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in five states and union territories, including Bengal and Rajasthan.

More than 10 million voters on the voter lists in these states have been found to be dead, transferred, or duplicate. Bengal has the highest number of dead, transferred, and duplicate voters, at 58.17 lakh.

The Commission has shared the draft list of deceased, transferred, and duplicate voters with all political parties in the state. It has also stated that if anyone's name has been incorrectly included in the list, they can file claims and objections starting December 17th, and will be accepted until January 15th.

According to the Commission, the states for which draft voter lists have been released include Bengal, Rajasthan, Goa, Puducherry, and Lakshadweep. The total number of voters in these five states before the SIR was approximately 133.4 million.

The names of those who have been removed during this period include those who did not return the voter's counting form or have become voters of some other state or were not found present at the given address.

According to the Commission, the documents provided by voters submitting counting forms will also be scrutinized during this period. Furthermore, if documents are not found, notices will be issued to all such voters. Failure to submit documents within the stipulated time will result in their names being removed from the final voter list.
