New Delhi: The CBI on Saturday registered a case under sections related to cheating, forgery and the IT Act following a complaint by a man who was duped of Rs 3 lakh by promising to win Rs 5.6 crore on the television show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC).

The CBI also registered an FIR against a woman who was accused of using the photograph of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to deceive the victim by posing as a senior CBI officer.

Fake accounts created in the name of KBC Kolkata

According to the CBI, the woman, claiming to be a CBI officer, pressured the complainant to deposit Rs 2.91 lakh for the prize money. According to the FIR filed by the CBI, the complainant was contacted through two fake accounts on the internet media. These fake accounts were created in the name of KBC Mumbai and KBC Kolkata. The Prime Minister's Office has also lodged a complaint with the CBI. At present, the investigation of the case is going on.

Woman committed fraud for getting job
