The Modi government sitting at the center has taken 3 important decisions including the removal of Minimum Export Price (MEP) from Basmati rice. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said on Saturday that the decision to remove the Minimum Export Duty (MEP) from Basmati rice will be very beneficial for the farmers.

The Union Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken many important decisions for the benefit of farmers in the last few years. Agriculture and farmer welfare have been the top priority of the government. He said, in the interest of farmers, the Central Government has increased the import duty on edible oils from zero percent to 20 percent. After adding other measures, the total effective duty will be 27.5 percent. With this step of the government, all oilseed farmers, especially soybean and groundnut farmers, will get good prices.

 

Mustard will get good prices

Along with this, sowing of oilseeds will also increase in Rabi season and farmers will be able to get good prices for mustard crop. He said, this decision will increase the production of soyabean meal and it will be exported and other sectors related to soyabean will also benefit.

On these decisions, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "We will leave no stone unturned in the interest of our farmer brothers and sisters. Whether it is reducing the export duty on onions or increasing the import duty on edible oils. Many such decisions will benefit our food producers."

 

Promotion of exports to get fair prices

Whereas, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, "Modi government has taken three important decisions in the interest of farmers. The government is increasing exports to ensure fair prices for farmers' crops so that they can get maximum prices for their crops."
