Meerut : The police and administration once again failed to maintain order on the Delhi-Doon highway. Surgeon and Raavan DJ (music system) blocked the highway from Thursday evening itself. The officers kept pleading with the DJ operators. It took hours to remove both the DJs from Modipuram, which caused the other Kanwadis to have to be stopped behind.
A vast crowd gathered from the city to watch the music system of the Kanwariyas. The highway was jammed from Siwaya toll to Khadauli of Kankarkheda. The officers had to leave their vehicles and enter the jam. The companions also got lost in the jam.
ADG DK Thakur, IG Nachiketa Jha, DM Deepak Meena, SSP Dr. Vipin Tada and SP Traffic Raghavendra Mishra were busy moving the music system of the Kanwariyas forward. However, due to competition among themselves, the DJ operators remained stuck on the highway. The situation was such that it was becoming difficult to even walk from Modipuram. This situation continued till seven o'clock on Friday morning.
Last year, too, there used to be a traffic jam due to Kanwar on the Delhi highway from Daurala to Kankarkheda. The officers had made a big plan to get rid of that jam. Police duty was doubled by setting up a hundred barriers. Even after that, they could not eliminate the traffic jams in Modipuram.
There was a huge traffic jam in Modipuram since Thursday afternoon due to the DJ competition. By nightfall, the traffic jam turned into a mega-jam. By 7 am on Friday, the situation became such that it became difficult to even walk.
SP Traffic says there is a traffic jam on the highway due to the city's people coming to see Kanwar. However, the DJ is being removed with great difficulty. So that there can be some relief from the jam.
