Yogi Government’s Major Bonanza for UP PRD Jawans: Daily Duty Allowance Raised to ₹600 and ₹5 Lakh Cashless Medical Cover
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has rolled out a monumental welfare package for Provincial Rakshak Dal (PRD) personnel, delivering substantial financial and medical security. Speaking at a special convention held at the Yogiraj Baba Gambhirnath Auditorium in Gorakhpur on Tuesday, the Chief Minister officially announced an increase in the daily duty allowance for PRD volunteers from ₹500 to ₹600 per day, alongside the launch of a comprehensive healthcare scheme.
Launch of the "Chief Minister PRD Cashless Medical Scheme"
Highlighting the state's commitment to public safety personnel, CM Yogi inaugurated the "Chief Minister PRD Cashless Medical Scheme" by personally distributing medical facility cards to participating volunteers.
Under this landmark healthcare initiative, PRD jawans and their dependent family members will receive free medical treatment of up to ₹5 lakh per year across state-empanelled hospitals. This critical safety net aims to shield personnel and their households from the severe financial burdens associated with unexpected medical emergencies and expensive treatments.
Historical Hike: Remuneration Surges Over Eight Years
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister reflected on the historical trajectory of PRD compensation since the organization's inception in 1948. He noted that for decades, volunteers received nominal daily wages.
Tracing the successive revisions under his administration:
-
Pre-2019: Remuneration stood stagnant at a meager ₹250 per day.
-
2019 Increment: Raised to ₹375 per day.
-
2022 & 2025 Adjustments: Increased to ₹395 and subsequently ₹500 per day.
-
Current Revision (2026): Scaled up to ₹600 per day.
CM Yogi emphasized that elevating the daily allowance from ₹250 to ₹600 represents an unprecedented financial uplift compared to the preceding 75 years, ensuring that those who maintain law and order are appropriately valued.
Modern Infrastructure: Foundation Stone Laid for Lucknow Barracks
Demonstrating infrastructural dedication to the force, CM Yogi pressed a remote button to lay the foundation stone for a modern, multi-storey PRD barracks in Lucknow, slated for construction at an estimated cost of ₹23 crore.
Lauding the indispensable contributions of PRD volunteers during disaster management, major state festivals like the Mahakumbh, traffic regulation, and election duties, the Chief Minister reaffirmed that the government will continue implementing progressive reforms to elevate the welfare, social security, and dignity of all security personnel across Uttar Pradesh.
