Yogi Government Grants Rs 1655 Crore to Social Welfare, Rs 1500 Crore Allocated for Old Age Pension

Demonstrating an unwavering commitment to inclusive growth, social security, and educational advancement, the state administration has sanctioned an additional provision of ₹1,655 crore specifically for the Social Welfare Department. Massive Boost for the National Old Age Pension Scheme

The centerpiece of the newly presented 2026-27 supplementary budget is a massive allocation of ₹1,500 crore dedicated entirely to the National Old Age Pension Scheme. This significant infusion of funds addresses the urgent need for regular, uninterrupted financial support for eligible elderly citizens across Uttar Pradesh. By securing this financial safety net, the state government aims to provide dignity, independence, and essential livelihood security to lakhs of senior citizens, reinforcing its promise of comprehensive social protection.

Funding for Dr. Ambedkar Statues and Higher Education Scholarships

Beyond elderly care, the supplementary budget lays heavy emphasis on preserving cultural heritage and promoting educational equity. An impressive allocation of ₹407 crore has been sanctioned for the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Statue Development Scheme, aimed at honoring the legacy of the icon and fostering social harmony across districts. Furthermore, to uplift economically weaker students, the government has earmarked ₹155 crore for the General Category Post-Matriculation Fee Reimbursement and Scholarship Scheme, alongside ₹2 crore for the Chief Minister's Meritorious Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Higher Education Assistance Scheme.
