The primary objective behind modifying the detailed alignment is to safeguard local communities and densely populated residential zones located near major transit intersections. Following detailed engineering re-evaluations, planners identified that the original route heavily impacted populated areas near the proposed interchange connecting the Lucknow-Kanpur National Highway (NH-27) and the Lucknow-Rae Bareli National Highway (NH-30). By shifting the alignment slightly, the state government has effectively prevented large-scale residential displacement and reduced administrative hurdles related to land acquisition in congested pockets.
Engineering Ingenuity: Length Increases by 1.18 KM with Zero Extra Cost
Presenting the decision, State Finance Minister Suresh Khanna explained the technical and financial aspects of the revised alignment. With the new route adjustments, the total estimated length of the link expressway will increase slightly from 49.80 kilometers to 50.98 kilometers—an addition of 1.18 kilometers. Crucially, despite this extended physical footprint, the total project budget will remain entirely unchanged. The potential expenditure incurred from the additional 1.18-kilometer road construction will be completely offset by structural savings achieved by replacing a complex, high-cost interchange with an efficient underpass system.
