UP Sanctions ₹2.34 Crore for 'Learning by Doing' Across 586 PM SHRI Schools
In a major stride toward reforming primary and upper primary education, the Uttar Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has rolled out a hands-on learning framework across the state's PM SHRI schools. Moving away from rigid, book-bound pedagogy, the state is shifting focus toward practical experimentation, live student participation, and experiential pedagogy. To embed this vision into daily school routines, the administration sanctioned an aggregate budget of ₹2.34 crore specifically dedicated to fortifying the 'Learning by Doing' framework across 586 upper primary and composite PM SHRI institutions selected under the 2024-25 academic blueprint.
Direct Financial Grants: ₹40,000 Disbursed to Every Selected School
Spearheaded under the direct supervision of Director General (School Education) and State Project Director Monica Rani, an exact budgetary outlay of ₹2,34,40,000 has been disbursed across the targeted educational network. Under this initiative, every participating PM SHRI school receives a direct financial grant limit of ₹40,000. These funds are designated for securing essential consumables, working tools, and raw materials needed to conduct weekly laboratory activities, scientific demonstrations, and craft-based learning sessions. This setup provides children with hands-on learning experiences, bridging the gap between theoretical definitions and real-world application.
Strengthening STEM Foundations and Critical Thinking
The primary thrust of the 'Learning by Doing' concept is to replace passive lectures with an active, interactive classroom culture. By building tactile physical models, conducting fundamental physics and chemistry demonstrations, and solving spatial mathematical puzzles with their own hands, students grasp core subject fundamentals with greater clarity. Education experts highlight that direct physical interaction with learning modules sparks innate curiosity, develops analytical problem-solving abilities, and builds a strong foundation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) from the foundational schooling stages.
Strict Utilization Guidelines and Digital Verification Framework
To guarantee absolute transparency and ensure that every rupee translates into measurable classroom value, the state project directorate issued explicit compliance directives to district education officers and headmasters. The sanctioned budget must be utilized exclusively for instructional consumables and practical teaching aids, prohibiting diversion toward administrative overheads. Furthermore, each institution is mandated to document, record, and maintain visual archives of ongoing experiments, integrating learnings from previous instructional cycles to build a verifiable, long-term repository of student progress.
