UP Police Set for Allowance Hike, Camo PAC Uniforms & New Women’s Battalion

In a major welfare push aimed at modernizing state law enforcement and boosting the morale of the rank and file, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is slated to unveil a suite of milestone welfare measures for the state police force on the occasion of Police Memorial Day on Wednesday, October 21, 2026. Addressing senior leadership, field officers, and families of martyred personnel during the state-level commemorative parade scheduled for 3:45 PM at the Lucknow Reserve Police Lines, the Chief Minister will formally recognize the supreme sacrifices of fallen officers while greenlighting long-pending administrative upgrades. The comprehensive package encompasses a substantial hike in the monthly nutritional allowance for personnel, a strategic aesthetic overhaul of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) uniform, and the sanctioning of a brand-new all-women PAC battalion headquartered in Badaun.

Tactical PAC Overhaul: Camouflage Fatigue Pattern, Allowance Revision & Badaun Battalion

Front and center of the upcoming announcements is a structural revamp of the Provincial Armed Constabulary, the state's frontline riot-control and tactical reserve force. The state government is actively finalizing plans to retire the conventional khaki drill attire for PAC field units in favor of a specialized, modern camouflage combat uniform styled along the tactical gear worn by the Indian Army and the Border Security Force (BSF). Parallel to the operational upgrade, an official nod is slated for setting up a specialized women’s PAC battalion in Badaun to significantly scale up female tactical presence in western Uttar Pradesh. Crucially, the administration is addressing widespread expectations regarding the nutritional allowance (Paushtik Ahar Bhatta), which has remained unchanged since a 25 percent hike in 2021. With constabulary personnel eagerly awaiting an inflation-adjusted revision, the state home department’s forthcoming enhancement is anticipated to bring immediate financial relief to thousands of serving police personnel across constabulary and non-gazetted ranks.

Remembering the Fallen: State Pays Homage to 6 Bravehearts Among 154 National Martyrs

The commemorative gathering holds deep historical resonance, marking the anniversary of October 21, 1959, when ten Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans laid down their lives defending national borders against an ambush by Chinese forces in the harsh terrain of Hot Springs, Ladakh. Between September 1, 2025, and August 31, 2026, a total of 154 police and paramilitary personnel across India made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, including six distinguished personnel from the Uttar Pradesh Police. During Wednesday’s solemn wreath-laying ceremony in Lucknow, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will personally felicitate the kin of all six fallen state personnel. The honored martyrs include Fire Service driver Tirthpal Singh and fireman Rohit Yadav, who died of critical injuries on August 4, 2026, following a catastrophic wall collapse during a major commercial firefighting operation at Elgin Electronics in Greater Noida’s Ecotech-3 industrial belt. The state will also salute the supreme sacrifice of four police personnel from Jalaun—Sub-Inspector Mohit Kumar Yadav, Sub-Inspector Satyabhan Singh, Constable Ashok Kumar, and Constable Pradeep Kumar—who lost their lives on May 5, 2026, when their departmental vehicle collided with a truck near the Dhulawat toll plaza on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway in Haryana’s Nuh district while racing to rescue a kidnapped victim.
