Union Home Minister Amit Shah formally inaugurated the flagship trade summit alongside Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Designed as an elite business conduit linking state industries to international markets, this edition marks a historic milestone as six prominent nations—Austria, Japan, Russia, Singapore, Belarus, and Vietnam—participate as official partner countries for the very first time. Outlining the scale and economic targets of UPITS 2026, State MSME Minister Bhupendra Chaudhary announced during a curtain-raiser press briefing that the exhibition floor hosts more than 2,400 domestic and international exhibitors. The trade spectacle is projected to draw over 150,000 professional B2B delegates, 450,000 general visitors, and more than 550 vetted international buyers arriving from 85 sovereign countries. Already, specialized delegations from 72 nations have confirmed their participation through the proprietary HostedBuyer Program, establishing direct procurement pipelines between local enterprises and foreign distributors, retail chains, sourcing agents, and trade associations.

The micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) sector continues to operate as the foundational engine of Uttar Pradesh's economic expansion. UPITS serves as a launchpad for grassroots innovators to engage in high-value B2B negotiations, secure international vendor orders, and adopt state-of-the-art manufacturing practices, ultimately driving large-scale employment generation across the state’s industrial hubs.

A standout highlight of UPITS 2026 is the mainstream introduction of the "One District, One Cuisine" (ODOC) initiative, unveiled alongside the globally acclaimed "One District, One Product" (ODOP) program. This dedicated gastronomic pavilion showcases centuries-old regional cooking traditions, indigenous culinary delicacies, and diverse agricultural harvests from all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh to global delegates. Key administrative officials, including MSME Principal Secretary Shashi Bhushan Lal Sushil and Gautam Buddha Nagar District Magistrate Medha Rupam, coordinated the initiative, ensuring the state's cultural identity and industrial capabilities are displayed on an equal footing.
