UP Har Ghar Tiranga 2026: 30,000 Rural Women Stitch 19 Million Tricolors Ahead Of Independence Day
Ahead of Independence Day, the national flags unfurling across Uttar Pradesh represent both deep patriotism and a massive step toward financial independence for women across the state. Under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision of aligning national celebrations with rural economic growth, over 30,000 rural women have produced a record-breaking 1.90 crore tricolors as part of the nationwide Har Ghar Tiranga initiative.
UPSRLM Self-Help Groups Achieve Exceptional Target Outcomes
The initiative, managed under the Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission (UPSRLM), assigned a total manufacturing target of 2 crore national flags to approximately 6,000 women self-help groups (SHGs). Demonstrating unprecedented speed and production capability, these groups have already completed 1.90 crore flags. These handcrafted tricolors are being distributed to residential homes, business establishments, government offices, and educational institutions through Gram Pradhans, local urban bodies, and community organizations.
High Level Inspection Validates Ground Level Operations in Lucknow
To monitor quality standards and output efficiency, UPSRLM Mission Director Arun Kumar conducted surprise visits to manufacturing hubs in the Juggaur and Sikandarpur village panchayats within Lucknow's Chinhat development block. Key operational details verified during the inspection include:
-
Assigned Local Target: Local groups including Tulsi Maa, Chhote Saheb, and Bajrangbali self-help groups were allocated a total production target of 1.50 lakh flags.
-
Production Status: Over 1.30 lakh flags have already been completed by these local units with high manufacturing precision.
-
Full Manufacturing Spectrum: Rural female workers are managing every stage of the supply chain, from fabric cutting and precision stitching to final packaging and quality checks.
Expanding Beyond Seasonal Work into Sustainable Livelihoods
The Uttar Pradesh government is leveraging seasonal campaigns like Har Ghar Tiranga as a launchpad to integrate rural women into year-round, sustainable employment sectors. According to state officials, the broader objective is to transition these self-help groups into permanent micro-enterprises.
To ensure continuous revenue generation throughout the year, the Aajeevika Mission is actively onboarding these women into diverse commercial sectors:
-
Food Processing & Agri-Business: Commercial spice grinding, hygienic packaging, and regional food manufacturing units.
-
Cottage & Handicraft Enterprises: Textile and garment manufacturing, solar drying operations, incense stick production, and traditional handicrafts.
-
Livestock & Sustainable Farming: Dairy production, goat rearing, commercial beekeeping, and organic farming initiatives.
By merging social welfare with targeted enterprise management, the state continues to turn cultural and national events into durable opportunities for female economic self-reliance.
