Deputy Chief Minister Shri Maurya participated as the chief guest at the International Prayagraj Film Festival
The Deputy Chief Minister stated that the land of Prayagraj has been a torchbearer of a rich tradition of literature, culture, values, spiritual consciousness, and creativity. The city has made a significant contribution to Hindi literature and the Indian film industry. The creative legacy of numerous litterateurs and artists—including lyricist Pradeep and Amritlal Nagar—bestows a unique identity upon the culture of Prayagraj. Furthermore, the legendary icon of the century, Shri Amitabh Bachchan, who has earned acclaim both nationally and internationally, hails from this sacred soil of Prayagraj. It is essential that the new generation becomes familiar with the contributions of these great writers, artists, and creators, and carries their legacy forward.
Shri Maurya noted that Uttar Pradesh is currently emerging rapidly as a hub for film production and the development of the film industry. The state possesses an abundance of talent. Its religious and tourist sites, historical landmarks, natural beauty, and diverse folk cultures provide an ideal environment for filmmaking. The Government of Uttar Pradesh is actively encouraging filmmakers to produce films within the state. Under the state’s film policy, provisions for grants and incentives—based on specific eligibility criteria and conditions—have been established, which are accelerating film production activities across the state.
He added that the development of a 'Film City' in Greater Noida is a significant step toward establishing the state as a major national and international center for film production. Local producers, directors, artists, technical experts, and young talent from Prayagraj and other districts of the state are seizing this opportunity to engage with the film industry.
Emphasizing the potential for film production in the state’s various regional languages—including Awadhi—the Deputy Chief Minister remarked that cinema in regional languages serves as an effective medium to bring wider recognition to our folk traditions, cultural heritage, and social life. By promoting local stories and talent, new avenues for employment and self-employment are being created for the youth.
