CM Yogi Unveils ₹521 Cr Projects in Gonda, Slams Past Riots & Saifai Bias
Inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for 69 development initiatives valued at ₹520.84 crore across the Gaura and Mankapur assembly constituencies on Monday, November 2, 2026, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a blistering offensive against the Samajwadi Party, characterizing its historical governance as a curse that inflicted administrative chaos and lawlessness across the state. Addressing a mammoth public gathering at Singarghat in Tezpur, the Chief Minister framed the political landscape as a fundamental contest between faith and criminality, asserting that while the BJP advances public safety and civilizational pride, the opposition coalition of the Samajwadi Party and Congress continues to serve as an umbrella for criminal elements. Adityanath highlighted that ahead of the festive season, Gonda is receiving substantive developmental dividends, declaring that while the focal point of the milestone tenth Deepotsav on November 7 will be Shri Ayodhya Dham, the transformative radiance of that progress is actively illuminating neighboring districts across the Devipatan division.
From Riots and Curfews to Communal Harmony: Recalling the November 2 Ram Devotee Firing
Reminding the younger generation of the administrative climate prior to 2017, the Chief Minister urged the youth to understand how recurrent curfews, administrative neglect, and communal riots previously derailed religious festivals, robbed youth of jobs, and compromised the safety of women and local businesses. Recalling a grim historical milestone, Adityanath pointed out that on November 2 in 1990, the then-Samajwadi Party regime authorized gunfire against unarmed Ram devotees in Ayodhya, whereas his administration has replaced bullets with flower showers and rapid infrastructure delivery. He pointed out that while previous regimes obstructed religious practices—barring Durga Puja pandals and Kanwar Yatras in Devipatan Mandal to appease vote banks—the present administration ensured the peaceful installation of over 67,000 Durga idols and the smooth participation of four crore pilgrims in the Kanwar Yatra, warning that anyone attempting to orchestrate communal unrest under BJP rule would face unprecedented legal retribution.
'Development Beyond Saifai': ₹50,000 Crore Regional Blueprint and Free Diwali Cylinders
Adityanath sharply criticized the regional favoritism of past governments, declaring that whereas development was once confined exclusively to Saifai, the double-engine government has democratized infrastructure across neglected border districts like Gonda, Balrampur, Bahraich, and Shravasti. Bowing to the spiritual legacy of Maa Pateshwari, Maharaja Suheldev, Raja Devi Baksh Singh, Maharishi Patanjali, and Lord Swaminarayan, the Chief Minister lamented that despite its rich heritage, Gonda was previously tagged among India's most backward and unhygienic districts in the 2016 Swachh Survey. Today, with over ₹16,000 crore sanctioned for Gonda and ₹50,000 crore earmarked for the wider Devipatan division, the region boasts newly established medical colleges in Gonda and Bahraich, an upcoming medical facility in Balrampur, a state university, and the approved four-lane widening of the Balrampur-Gonda-Ayodhya highway corridor. Turning to welfare initiatives, Adityanath announced the distribution of a free LPG cooking gas cylinder to eligible households before Diwali alongside sustained free food grains and Ayushman healthcare cover, underscoring that uninterrupted electricity and civic amenities now reach every underprivileged citizen without regional or communal discrimination.
Zero Tolerance for Mafia: 1 Lakh Recruitment Drive, Agniveer Quota, and Sports Incentives
Reaffirming his administration’s uncompromising stance on law and order, Adityanath stated that organized criminal syndicates and extortion cartels across Uttar Pradesh have been reduced to dust, leaving wrongdoers with no alternatives other than prison or hell. The Chief Minister announced an aggressive employment roadmap aimed at filling one lakh government vacancies over the next six months, comprising appointment letters for 45,000 police constables, 4,500 sub-inspectors, 42,000 home guards, and large-scale teacher recruitments conducted through transparent, merit-based examinations. Furthermore, he highlighted policy incentives including direct gazetted appointments as Deputy Superintendents of Police and Sports Officers for international medal-winning athletes, alongside a guaranteed 20 percent reservation across state departments for Agniveer soldiers completing their four-year military tenure. The high-profile event saw the participation of prominent leaders including Union Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh, Mankapur MLA Ramapati Shastri, Gaura MLA Prabhat Verma, Tarabganj MLA Prem Narayan Pandey, Colonelganj MLA Ajay Singh, Mehanun MLA Vinay Kumar Dwivedi, MLC Awadhesh Kumar alias Manju Singh, District Panchayat President Ghanshyam Mishra, and BJP District President Iqbal Bahadur Tiwari.
