₹12,000 Cr Mega Township: CM Yogi Launches Varun Vihar & Naimish Nagar in Lucknow
In a major transformative push for planned urban development, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath performed the sacred Bhoomi Pujan and laid the foundation stone for two massive housing initiatives—the Varun Vihar and Naimish Nagar housing schemes—spearheaded by the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA). Unveiled during a grand ceremony in Dona village along the Agra Expressway amid the chanting of Vedic mantras, the twin projects span an expansive 10,680 acres backed by a massive investment of ₹12,000 crore. Slated for completion within three years, this ambitious mega-development is engineered to provide planned, high-standard residential housing for more than 10 lakh people, creating over 50,000 residential units and setting a historic benchmark in Lucknow's urban landscape.
Plot Registrations Open for Varun Vihar and Naimish Nagar
Marking the immediate operational rollout of the schemes, the LDA has commenced the official registration process for 4,520 residential plots across both sectors. The allocation comprises 2,847 plots located within Varun Vihar along the Agra Expressway and 1,673 plots nestled inside the Naimish Nagar scheme along Sitapur Road. Covering an unprecedented 6,500 acres, the Varun Vihar township is designed to surpass Gomti Nagar in geographical scale, establishing a sprawling residential hub on the city's western periphery. Meanwhile, the Naimish Nagar project covers 4,100 acres strategically positioned along the Lucknow-Sitapur border, conceptualized to preserve and showcase the spiritual and cultural heritage of ancient Naimisharanya while modernizing local living conditions.
₹2,166 Crore Multi-Storey Flats Across Key Urban Corridors
Supplementing the plotted development, the Chief Minister also launched five premium multi-storey housing projects valued at ₹2,166 crore, adding 4,150 modern flats to Lucknow's residential pool. These high-density residential towers include Lake View, Park View, Aishbagh Square, Aditi Apartment situated in the Anant Nagar scheme, and Vageshwari Apartment located in the Sharda Nagar Extension. Demonstrating robust market demand, 1,000 flats have already been booked in advance, with registrations now actively open for the remaining inventory to cater to government employees, professionals, and aspiring homeowners.
Eradicating Unplanned Settlements and Land Mafia Networks
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized that these coordinated schemes reflect a permanent structural departure from past eras of haphazard colonization and mafia exploitation. Reflecting on past governance challenges, the Chief Minister recalled times when citizens bought unapproved land parcels lacking paved roads, clean water, and electricity, trapping thousands in waterlogged and squalid conditions while exposing property owners to mafia coercion and land disputes. Highlighting how the Anant Nagar scheme in 2025 broke a 23-year stagnation, he noted that modern Lucknow has transformed its industrial identity, moving away from unauthorized arms manufacture to producing state-of-the-art BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles while pioneering world-class civic infrastructure.
Four-Lane Sitapur Corridor and Direct Farmer Compensation
The urban blueprint incorporates advanced regional connectivity to guarantee seamless transport mobility across regional growth centers. The Chief Minister announced that travel between Lucknow and Sitapur will be streamlined via a modern four-lane highway, while Varun Vihar will be linked directly to the Purvanchal Expressway network to facilitate frictionless regional trade. Reaffirming full administrative transparency, the Chief Minister guaranteed that zero intermediaries or middlemen would operate between the LDA and landowners, ensuring that every affected farmer receives fair, direct financial compensation credited straight to their accounts without bureaucratic delays.
State Capital Region (SCR) Blueprint for Unified Growth
The development of Varun Vihar and Naimish Nagar serves as the cornerstone for the larger State Capital Region (SCR) vision, designed to integrate Lucknow with neighboring districts including Unnao, Hardoi, Barabanki, Sitapur, and Rae Bareli. This regional master plan aims to decentralize growth, distribute economic opportunities evenly, and build world-class healthcare, higher education, tourism, and transit corridors. By expanding residential capacity near strategic expressways, the initiative directly accommodates the steady influx of students, healthcare professionals, industrial workers, and commercial entrepreneurs making Lucknow their permanent home.
