News Topical, Digital Desk : The incident of a scuffle between ABVP workers and municipal corporation employees in Bareilly is now gaining momentum. Following this dispute, municipal corporation employees have openly come out in support of the Municipal Commissioner and have staged an indefinite strike.
The employees have made it clear that they will not return to work until a case is filed against the ABVP activists. This is now having an impact on the city's sanitation system.
Employees in support of the Municipal Commissioner
Yesterday, a clash broke out between ABVP workers and municipal employees at the Municipal Commissioner's office. It is reported that some ABVP workers misbehaved with the Municipal Commissioner and even scuffled with the employees.
In protest of this incident, all municipal employees have been staging a sit-in protest in the office premises since this morning. The protesting employees are demanding that an FIR be immediately filed against the ABVP activists who misbehaved with the officers and employees.
The protesting employees say that until action is taken against the accused, neither cleaning work will resume nor will anyone work in the office. All work in the city, from garbage collection to drain cleaning, has stopped, causing inconvenience to the public.
Municipal Commissioner Sanjeev Maurya stated that a few days ago, ABVP workers rented the Smart Auditorium from the corporation. However, they later began avoiding paying the fees. When they were asked to pay the fees as per the rules, they became angry and created a ruckus in the office. He stated that charging fees is part of the corporation's rules and there can be no arbitrariness in this regard.
The city's sanitation system is in trouble
The protest has completely disrupted the sanitation system in Bareilly. Garbage collection vehicles are not moving, and drain cleaning has also stopped. Filth has spread in many areas of the city. People are expressing concern that if the dispute is not resolved soon, the situation could worsen.
