News Topical, Digital Desk : Maharashtra News: The bugle of agitation was blown from Azad Maidan in Mumbai on Sunday (29 June) against the order of compulsory imposition of Hindi from the first class in Maharashtra. Shiv Sena (Thackeray faction) symbolically burnt the Government Order (GR) of compulsory Hindi issued by the Mahayuti government. This symbolic protest took place in the presence of Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray. 

On this occasion, Maharashtra Congress state president Harshvardhan Sapkal, MNS leader Nitin Sardesai, MLA Aditya Thackeray, Sanjay Raut, MP Arvind Sawant, Anil Desai, Subhash Desai, Santosh Shinde, actor Hemant Dhome and Congress spokesperson Yuvraj Mohite were also present. Uddhav Thackeray said during this, "We all have not become slaves." The order of Hindi compulsory was also burnt by Marathi Abhyas Kendra and like-minded organizations.

Grand front on 5th July- Uddhav Thackeray

Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray said that the rally to be taken out on July 5 will be a 'Maha Bhavya Morcha'. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar had said that the situation of taking out a rally will not be allowed to arise and a solution will be found before that. Reacting to this, Uddhav Thackeray said, "It is a good thing that everyone has not become slaves yet, but no one is telling whose stubbornness it is." Thackeray clearly said, "We have burnt the Holi of GR (government order), which means that we do not accept it."

Symbolic protests across the state

Just like the Holi of GR was burnt in Azad Maidan of Mumbai, symbolic Holi of GR was burnt by Marathi supporting organizations across the state in protest against the compulsory imposition of Hindi. The protesters clarified that they do not object to Hindi, but to the forceful imposition of Hindi. Protests were held in many parts of the state including Nashik, Pune and Mumbai.

On the other hand, a symbolic protest was also organized by the BJP. In Mumbai, BJP MLA Ram Kadam organized a protest against Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena.
