News Topical, Digital Desk : Rajya Sabha MP Sudha Murthy on Friday urged the government to take steps to ensure free and compulsory care and education for children in the age group of three to six years.
The private member's motion introduced by Murthy states that the government may consider amending the Constitution to add Article 21B in this regard. Introducing the motion, he said, "Children are our future. They are the rising sun.
What request did you make to the government ?
Their early education should be beneficial for their lives. Therefore, I request our government through you to consider amending the Constitution to extend the fundamental right to education from the age of six to 14 years to the age of three to 14 years."
Murthy said that the NEP 2020 states that it is important for children to receive a good education between the ages of three and eight. He said, "During this period, children's cognitive, social, and emotional skills develop significantly. The NEP 2020 also states that 85 percent of brain development occurs by the age of six."
