News Topical, Digital Desk : The Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) on Wednesday (November 19) said that the alleged tussle between Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Shiv Sena ministers shows that the BJP no longer needs Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Citing reports that Shinde attended the cabinet meeting alone after Shiv Sena ministers were reportedly absent from the meeting, NCP (SP) spokesperson Clyde Crasto said that the development shows that 'Fadnavis has no respect for Shinde' and the ministers also have 'no special respect' for the Deputy Chief Minister.
"If Eknath Shinde has any self-respect, he should leave the alliance with the BJP. If he doesn't leave at the right time, he will soon be shown the door," Crasto said in a statement on X.
Shiv Sena ministers had distanced themselves from the cabinet meeting.
The ruling 'Mahayuti' in Maharashtra comprises the BJP, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. Except Shinde, Shiv Sena ministers reportedly skipped the weekly cabinet meeting on Tuesday.
Many Shiv Sena leaders and workers joined BJP!
The BJP is believed to have inducted Shiv Sena leaders and workers into its party in several parts of the state. This has increased unease within the "Mahayuti" alliance ahead of the local body elections. Later, a meeting was held between Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Shiv Sena ministers led by Deputy CM Eknath Shinde. Speaking to the media, Deputy CM Eknath Shinde said that the meeting decided that the "Mahayuti" allies would avoid inducting each other's leaders into their parties.
