News Topical, Digital Desk : Recently a report has surfaced which revealed that Pakistan's Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) and its affiliated organization Pakistan Strategic Forum (PSF) have launched a false propaganda campaign against India.

This campaign was launched at a time when tensions between the US, Iran and Israel were at their peak in the Middle East. According to a report by Disinfo Lab, the purpose of this propaganda was to hide Asim Munir's US visit from the public eye.

What lies were spread against India?

According to the report of Disinfo Lab, the lies spread by Pakistani networks are...

  • Four RAW agents arrested: Pakistan claimed that it caught four Indian intelligence agents spying on CPEC and military installations. But there is no concrete evidence of this claim, nor has it been confirmed by Iran or any international organization.
  • India called a 'terrorist nation': Propaganda was spread on social media calling India and Israel as terror-spreading countries, with the aim of tarnishing India's image.
  • US bombers flew over India: A viral rumour said that US B-2 bombers flew over India to attack Iran. There is no flight track, satellite data or official confirmation of this claim.
  • RAW-Mossad are committing murders together: A lie was spread on social media that RAW and Mossad are committing murders and sabotage together in Iran, whereas Iran has not made any such allegation.
  • RAW agents caught in Iran: It was also claimed that Iran has arrested Indian agents who were planning to attack Iranian leaders. But there has been no statement from the Iranian government in this regard.
  • RAW provided information on Israeli military bases: It was also spread as a lie that RAW provided information on Iranian military bases to Israel. However, there is no evidence of this.

What is the truth behind these false stories?

  • Portraying India, the US and Israel as a common conspirator.
  • Declaring India a partner in the action against Iran.
  • To divert people's attention from General Asim Munir's visit to America in his country.

How are relations between Pakistan and Iran?

  • There is a competition for supremacy between the two countries in Afghanistan.
  • Pakistan fears that Iran may take away from it the status of being the only nuclear-armed Muslim country in the world.

  • On June 15, Pakistan closed its border with Iran. This was done at the same time when Munir was on a US visit.

Growing closeness between Pakistan and America

  • During Asim Munir's visit to the US, he met Trump and American policymakers.
  • According to the report, on June 18, Trump invited Munir to a private lunch at the White House, which is only available to heads of state.

  • All this happened when, under Operation Sindoor, India had targeted an important location in Rawalpindi, Pakistan by breaking into its air defence system.
