News Topical, Digital Desk : Booking railway tickets will now be cheaper. But there's a caveat: You must book your tickets through the Indian Railways app. Train passengers can avail discounts on unreserved tickets booked using any digital payment method through the RailOne app.
If you use the RailOne app, you may have received a notification detailing the discounts and cashbacks.
3% discount on ticket bookings starts today
Starting January 14th, a 3% discount on ticket bookings will be available only to those who book unreserved tickets through the RailOne app. This discount will also be available on platform tickets.
If you book platform tickets through the RailOne app, you will receive a 3% discount. Cashback will also be available along with the discount. If you pay using BHIM UPI, you will receive a discount of up to ₹20.
The notification on the RailOne app read, "Get a 3% discount/cashback on unreserved and platform ticket bookings. Get up to ₹20 extra cashback on payments made using BHIM UPI."
This means that starting today, Indian Railways has started offering two types of offers to IRCTC users. If you travel by train daily with a general ticket, this offer could be very useful.
Discount will be available only if you book through RailOne App
3% discount on ticket booking will be available only on RailOne app. RailOne is the official app of Indian Railways that brings together multiple services previously spread across different platforms into a single, user-friendly interface.
Instead of switching between different apps for unreserved tickets, PNR status, live train status, food delivery or grievance redressal, passengers can now manage their entire journey within RailOne.
The app also allows users to log in using existing railway credentials, making the transition from the old platform to the new one easy and hassle-free. RailOne is available on both Android and iOS platforms.
