News Topical, Digital Desk : A case of rape of a minor fifth-grade student has surfaced in the Malaud area of Khanna, Punjab, sparking concern and outrage throughout the area. Police acted swiftly and arrested the accused, Gurvinder Singh, a resident of Sihora village. Police have launched a detailed investigation into the matter.
Station House Officer Charanjit Singh said that a complaint regarding this incident was lodged on February 15. Immediately after receiving the complaint, the police inspected the scene and took steps to apprehend the accused.
He called her home on the pretext of asking for clothes.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused lured the minor student to his home on the pretext of asking for clothes and raped her. When the family learned of the incident, they immediately contacted the police and demanded justice. Based on the victim's family's complaint, the police took strict action against the accused, arrested him, and, given the seriousness of the case, began questioning him.
Case registered against the accused
Police also stated that during the interrogation of the accused, efforts are being made to determine whether anyone else assisted him in the crime or if anyone else is involved in the incident. The station in-charge clarified that negligence is unacceptable in cases of child sexual abuse. A case has been registered against the accused under the POCSO Act and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
