New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday left for a three-day visit to the United States during which he will attend the Quad Leaders' Summit, address the 'Summit of the Future' at the United Nations General Assembly and also interact with the Indian diaspora.

In a post on Twitter, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for the USA to attend the 6th Quad Leaders Summit and address the UN 'Summit of the Future'.

PM Modi will attend the sixth Quad Leaders Summit in Wilmington, Delaware, which is being hosted by US President Joe Biden in his hometown on September 21. India will host the Quad Leaders Summit in 2025. The Quad comprises four countries - Australia, India, Japan and the US.

America sees India as a leader in the Quad

The US said that it sees India as a leader within the Quad and expresses gratitude for its role in this group of four countries. This statement by a senior White House official comes at a time when the Quad summit is to be held in Wilmington, Delaware on Saturday under the hosting of US President Joe Biden.

Apart from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Prime Ministers of Australia and Japan will also participate in it. Mira Rapp-Hooper, Senior Director at the White House National Security Council, said on Thursday, "When it comes to the role expected from India, we see it as a leader within the Quad."

India will host the conference next year

The Quad includes four countries - Australia, India, Japan and the US. This summit will be held in Biden's hometown. Rap-Hooper said that the Quad summit will focus on maritime security. The leaders of the Quad countries can also discuss the developments in Bangladesh. US President Biden will also hold separate bilateral meetings with the Quad leaders. Let us tell you that this time it was India's turn to host the Quad summit. But on Washington's request, India will host the summit next year.
