New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested a Sri Lankan national, the prime accused in the international human trafficking case. He has also had links with LTTE in the past. The accused Seeni Abul Khan has been arrested from Ramanathapuram in Tamil Nadu.
Investigation by the NIA found that he, along with his associates, was also involved in confining the victims in a boat before sending them to Mangaluru. He was arrested by the NIA on Saturday after three years of absconding. The case was registered by the Mangaluru City Police.
Efforts are on to nab other fugitives
The NIA investigation revealed that a Sri Lankan Eson is the kingpin of the racket. The investigating agency said, 'He had connived with the accused to illegally bring 38 Sri Lankan nationals to various places in Tamil Nadu by offering false inducements.' The NIA had filed a chargesheet against 10 accused, including three fugitives, between October 2021 and January 2024. Investigation is on to nab the remaining fugitives.
