News Topical, Digital Desk : Jan Suraj Party founder Prashant Kishore visited the SSP's office on Saturday (January 17, 2025) in connection with the death of a NEET student in Patna. The student's family was also present with him. The purpose of this meeting was to ensure humane treatment of those against whom FIRs have been filed following the protests and to appeal for protection from unnecessary action while keeping legal considerations in mind.

Prashant Kishore said, "On Friday, we met with the victim's family at their home in Jehanabad. Meanwhile, the government took cognizance of the matter and formed an SIT. Now, we expect the SIT to investigate the case and ensure justice for those who have been wronged."

PK said there were two reasons for meeting with the SSP today. First, the family believes the victim's family harbors resentment toward the female officer who was investigating the case, and they want departmental action against her. Second, the victim's family and youth recently staged a protest at Kargil Chowk, and an FIR has been filed against them. On Friday, the police raided BN College in connection with the incident. This matter has also been brought to his attention.

'The government also admitted that some mistake had been made'

Prashant said that the government also acknowledged that some wrongdoing occurred in the incident, which is why the SIT has been formed. In such a situation, it would not be appropriate to file an FIR against those protesting the incident. The SSP has assured that he will address both issues on his own, and that the police will adopt a humanitarian approach as much as possible. No harsh action will be taken against those against whom the FIR has been filed.

Prashant Kishore further stated in a media interaction that the government has formed an SIT under the IG. Let the investigation proceed. We have presented the victim's family's statements to the government and administration. The SIT has been formed for this purpose; let them decide. The victim's family cannot be suppressed by being considered weak, so we stand with them.

On the question of trust in the Patna Police, Prashant Kishore said, "If the administration hadn't made a mistake, why would there be such an uproar? I assured the victim's father that his voice would be heard. I thank the government for forming an SIT."
