News Topical, Digital Desk : Maharashtra Latest News: To provide more effective assistance to the police department in maintaining public safety and law and order in the state of Maharashtra, an important meeting was held under the chairmanship of Minister of State for Home Yogesh Kadam at Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai with the aim of installing modern CCTV cameras in the state and coordinating the process of their maintenance.

CCTV cameras are being installed through various departments of the state, but till now the necessary conditions and requirements of the Home Department were not being taken care of properly in this process. Therefore, in future, the departments other than the Home Department, in which CCTV cameras will be installed, will be required to follow the norms of the Home Department.

CCTV system is a strong tool in maintaining law and order

Minister of State for Home Yogesh Kadam said that CCTV system is an effective and strong means of maintaining law and order and it plays a very important role in disclosing crimes. Therefore, it is necessary to make changes at the policy level to further improve the efficiency of this system and to bring uniformity in the maintenance and repair process.

In this background, a decision will soon be taken to form a high-level committee as per the approval of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. MLA Siddharth Shirole, Principal Secretary (Special - Law and Order) of Home Department Anup Kumar Singh, Director of Information and Technology Department Anil Bhandari, Assistant Inspector General of Police (Planning and Coordination) Prakash Jadhav, Deputy Commissioner of Police Akbar Pathan, as well as senior officials of Home Department, Urban Development Department and Mahanagarpalika were present in this meeting. 

It is necessary to install good quality CCTV cameras in every village - Step

Minister of State for Home Yogesh Kadam said after this meeting that it is necessary to install good quality CCTV cameras, AI system and cameras required for face recognition in every village. This will help a lot in reducing crime in the state. He also said that the security of public places is not only the responsibility of the police, but is the collective responsibility of the entire administration.
