RRB Group D Recruitment 2026: Process Begins for 30,000 Vacancies on New Website

Millions of job seekers aspiring to join Indian Railways have major reason to rejoice as the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) officially initiates the process for the upcoming RRB Group D Vacancy 2026. Aiming to fill thousands of vacant Level-One positions across the country, the Railway Board has directed all zonal railways and production units to compile and submit comprehensive vacancy reports. With data reviews and final approvals scheduled through August, industry estimates suggest that an official recruitment notification for roughly 30,000 posts will be released around September or October 2026, with online applications kicking off before December.

Zonal Vacancy Assessment and Approval Timeline

To streamline the intake for Level-One posts, the Railway Board has mandated that all zonal railways accurately assess anticipated vacancies through the HRMS indent management module, projecting needs up to December 31, 2027. Division-level data entry begins in August, while zonal headquarters will review and grant final approvals between August 10 and August 20, 2026. This extensive exercise ensures that various critical operational departments receive adequate manpower. Selected candidates will be deployed across essential railway roles, including:

• Assistant Signal & Telecom (S&T)

Single Unified Website Launched for All RRBs

In a major administrative overhaul aimed at boosting transparency and simplifying candidate navigation, the Ministry of Railways has consolidated all individual regional RRB websites into a single unified portal. Aspirants must now exclusively visit https://rrb.indianrailways.gov.in for all future announcements, admit cards, notices, and official application links regarding railway jobs. Furthermore, the board has issued a strict advisory warning candidates to stay vigilant and beware of fraudulent brokers, middlemen, or unauthorized job racketeers.

CBT Exam Pattern, Selection Process, and Negative Marking

The selection process for the RRB Group D 2026 recruitment comprises a single-stage Computer-Based Test (CBT), followed by a Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Document Verification, and a Medical Examination.

The online CBT will last for 90 minutes and consist of 100 objective-type questions structured as follows:

• Mathematics: 25 questions

• General Science: 25 questions

• General Intelligence and Reasoning: 30 questions

• General Awareness and Current Affairs: 20 questions

Candidates must keep negative marking in mind, as one-third (1/3) of the assigned marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer. To qualify the CBT, candidates must meet the category-wise minimum passing percentages: 40% for Unreserved (UR) and EWS candidates, and 30% for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), SC, and ST candidates. Successful candidates will subsequently advance to the physical test rounds.
