CM Yogi Adityanath’s Strict Warning at Gorakhpur Janta Darshan: "Suspend Lekhpal, Kanungo, and Tehsildar If Roads Aren't Cleared"
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath adopted an uncompromising stance against administrative apathy and land-related negligence during a high-profile Janta Darshan held in Gorakhpur on Tuesday morning. Addressing grievances directly at the Gorakhnath Temple complex, the Chief Minister issued a stern warning to local revenue authorities, explicitly instructing senior officials to suspend any Lekhpal (accountant), Kanungo (revenue inspector), and Tehsildar who demonstrates helplessness or negligence in resolving public right-of-way and land disputes.
Swift Action Following a Citizen’s Grievance
The Chief Minister’s decisive intervention was triggered when a distressed woman approached him during the public interaction, expressing deep anguish over powerful individuals blocking her access route and threatening her with impunity. Taking immediate cognizance of her complaint, CM Yogi directed district administration officials to clear the pathway without delay.
Underscoring zero tolerance for administrative laxity, the Chief Minister firmly declared that if local revenue personnel claim they cannot secure basic public access, the Lekhpal, Kanungo, and Tehsildar responsible for the jurisdiction should face immediate suspension. He emphasized that delays or indifference in addressing land disputes at any bureaucratic level will invite severe penal actions.
Direct Public Interaction and Healthcare Assurances
During the Janta Darshan held outside the Mahant Digvijaynath Smriti Bhavan, CM Yogi personally met with approximately 200 citizens, walking up to individuals to listen to their grievances, review their written applications, and reassure them of comprehensive state support. Reaffirming the government's commitment to public welfare, the Chief Minister stated that no citizen should feel vulnerable or abandoned.
In addition to resolving property disputes, several attendees approached the Chief Minister seeking financial assistance for medical treatments. CM Yogi promptly instructed accompanying officials to ensure that every eligible citizen receives an Ayushman health card, adding that additional funds from the Chief Minister's discretionary pool will be readily disbursed to cover expensive medical treatments for those in urgent need.
