The corporate earnings season for the first quarter of fiscal year 2026-27 has delivered a mixed yet generally positive bag of financial results for major industrial and engineering players. Siemens Ltd, Finolex Cables, and Kalpataru Projects International have all released their June quarter scorecards, showcasing significant profit growths. While Siemens grabbed headlines with a massive five-fold surge in net profit fueled by exceptional one-time gains, Finolex Cables and Kalpataru Projects demonstrated robust, broad-based operational expansion across revenue, EBITDA, and profit margins.

Siemens Posts Massive 5-Fold Profit Jump Driven by One-Time Gain

Industrial engineering major Siemens Ltd announced its financial results for the first quarter of FY 2026-27, reporting a massive surge in consolidated net profit from ₹423 crore in the corresponding quarter last year to ₹2,143 crore, easily outperforming market expectations of ₹391 crore. However, a deeper look into the financials reveals that this astronomical profit spike was largely driven by a substantial one-time income of ₹2,099 crore realized from a strategic business sale. On the operational front, Siemens reported consolidated revenue growth from ₹4,108 crore to ₹4,714 crore, edging past the estimated ₹4,668 crore. Conversely, operational metrics faced some headwinds; EBITDA declined from ₹517 crore to ₹431 crore—falling short of the ₹472 crore estimate—while the EBITDA margin contracted from 12.6% to 9.1% against market expectations of 10%.
