News Topical, Digital Desk : Following the clash between police and villagers in Narharpur, the village is now deserted. Four days later, the situation has not fully returned to normal. Currently, only women, the elderly, and children are seen in the village, while most men have fled their homes.
Women from the Dalit settlement say the incident has terrified the entire village. They allege that the police were not only subjected to abusive behavior during the operation, but also detained and assaulted several people without reason. They say even relatives who were visiting were not spared.
Elderly Tulsi said that when she heard the noise and ran out of her house, she was pushed and fell, resulting in injuries. Several other women also described the harshness and fear they experienced. Villagers say that Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Jayanti, which is celebrated with great enthusiasm every year, has been subdued this year.
The situation is such that tableaus and mass gatherings have had to be cancelled. Public representative Mukesh Yadav, describing the villagers' suffering as serious, said that people's sentiments will be respected and efforts will be made to celebrate the birth anniversary peacefully.
The police administration has denied all allegations and stated that the action was taken to maintain law and order. According to Police Inspector Krishna Mohan Singh, peace prevails in the village and no injustice will be allowed to happen to any innocent person.
A case has been registered against 19 named and 50 unknown persons.
While removing encroachment from protected land, villagers pelted stones at the revenue and police team, injuring four people, including a sub-inspector and a constable. On the second day, the police detained nine people, conducted legal proceedings, and sent their challans to court. Police have been deployed in the village in response to the tension.
