News Topical, Digital Desk : Himachal Pradesh Cloud Burst: Heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh have disrupted normal life. It has become a disaster. So far, cloudburst and floods have caused heavy destruction in Kullu, Kangra and Lahaul-Spiti districts. 6 workers have been confirmed missing in Khaniyara, Kangra. While 2 bodies were recovered last night as well. However, local MLA Sudhir Sharma had expressed apprehension that 15 to 20 workers might have been swept away.

Incidents of cloudburst have also been reported in Sainj, Jeeva Nala, Shilagarh, Manali Snow Gallery of Kullu and Hornagad of Banjar. Life has been disrupted due to heavy rains in these areas. More than 2000 tourists are stranded in Tirthan Valley, Shangarh, Jibhi, Shoja, Kasol and Sainj Valley. The administration claims that all are safe in hotels and homestays.

Many people were swept away in the floods. The bodies of two of them have been recovered while nine are still missing.

Monsoon has become fully active in Himachal Pradesh and heavy rains are expected in many parts of the state for the next six days. According to the forecast issued by the Meteorological Center Shimla, widespread rain has been warned in the state from June 27 to July 2.

Yellow alert issued

During this period, very heavy rains may occur at some places, due to which there is a possibility of incidents like flooding of rivers and streams and landslides. Very heavy rains may occur in some areas of the state on 29 and 30 June. There is also a possibility of heavy rain on 1 and 2 July, for which a yellow alert has been issued.

The highest rainfall was recorded at 76.6 mm in Palampur of Kangra district and 75.4 mm in Banjar of Kullu district. Apart from this, 55.0 mm rain was recorded at Jattan Barrage, 40.1 mm in Dharamsala, 39.0 mm in Narkanda, 33.6 mm in Shilaru, 32.0 mm in Chamba and 30.6 mm in Una.
