Ingredients for making the decoction

  • Ginger: 1-inch piece (crushed) – Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties that reduce sore throat and swelling.
  • Basil leaves: 8-10 leaves – Basil is an immunity booster and has anti-viral properties.
  • Black pepper: 4-5 whole seeds (lightly crushed) – These help in reducing phlegm and soothing the throat.
  • Cloves: 2-3 cloves (lightly crushed) – Cloves are rich in antiseptic properties and provide relief from pain.
  • Honey: 1 teaspoon (as needed) – Honey soothes the throat and reduces cough.
  • Water: 2 cups
  • Jaggery: small piece (for sweetness, optional) – Jaggery provides warmth to the body.

Decoction recipe

  • First of all, put 2 cups of water in a vessel and heat it.
  • Add crushed ginger, basil leaves, black pepper and cloves in water.
