News Topical, Digital Desk : Phase IV of the Delhi Metro, which has given a new direction to Delhi's pace, has now reached another important milestone. Construction work on the new "Golden Line 11" being built by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) from Lajpat Nagar to Saket G-Block, officially began on Friday (December 12). Beginning with test piling and a groundbreaking ceremony, this work is expected to bring a major change to the capital's metro connectivity. Following the completion of the primary corridors, this is the first new segment of Phase IV where physical construction has begun. This step is considered a significant milestone in the continued expansion of the Delhi Metro network.

Historic moment related to test pile and Bhoomi Pujan

DMRC's Principal Executive Director Anuj Dayal said that the first test pile and bhoomi pujan programme of the corridor was organised near Pushpa Bhawan near Saket.

DMRC Managing Director Dr. Vikas Kumar was present on the occasion, along with several senior officials from the organization. Officials from Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), the project contractor, also attended the ceremony.

Elevated 'Golden Line-11' to be built with 8 stations

This corridor from Lajpat Nagar to Saket G-Block will be fully elevated. It will have a total of eight stations: Lajpat Nagar, Andrews Ganj, GK-1, Chirag Delhi, Pushpa Bhawan, Saket District Centre, Pushp Vihar, and Saket G-Block. These stations will provide a convenient and fast transportation option to many congested areas of South Delhi.

Connectivity will increase in South Delhi

The Golden Line will ease commuting in busy South Delhi areas. Areas like Greater Kailash-1, Saket, and Pushp Vihar, along with nearby prestigious schools and government offices, will receive improved metro access. This corridor is expected to save time and increase the convenience of daily travel for millions of commuters.

Lajpat Nagar to become a major interchange hub

This new corridor will connect to the Magenta Line at Chirag Delhi and to the Violet and Pink Lines at Lajpat Nagar. With these connections, Lajpat Nagar will emerge as a triple interchange station, providing passengers with more options and convenient travel routes.

Work is also underway on other corridors of Phase-IV.

Tendering and pre-construction activities are also underway on other Phase IV corridors, such as Indralok-Indraprastha and Rithala-Narela. DMRC aims to provide a more robust and modern metro network to Delhi-NCR in the coming years.

Principal Executive Director Anuj Dayal said, "Delhi Metro has always prioritized punctuality, safety, and modernity. Since its inception, DMRC has significantly contributed to transforming the city's transportation landscape, and this legacy continues with the addition of new lines."
